SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY ENTREPRENEURS PARK JSSATE - STEP [JSS Science & Technology Entrepreneurs Park ] was established in January 1999. It was registered as a society on 10th January 2003. The first Governing council meeting was held on 31st March 2003. The Government of Karnataka has so far sanctioned Rs.12.5 lakhs for different activities of JSSATE-STEP. DST, GOI has also sanctioned Rs.33 Lakhs for Project “Product Development and Design Center”. Under these funds we have setup a CNC Lathe and workstation with software like “IDEAS” and “ ANSYS”. Various activities are conducted under STEP which could help in providing successful entrepreneurs, participating in the economic activity in the region. This will also lead to supports to be provided to small and medium scale entrepreneurs during their establishment, sustenance and growth, particularly in Product / Process Development, quality assurance and Human Resource Development. Several training programmes have been conducted for entrepreneurs and students focusing on skill development, design capability, etc.

Technology Entrepreneurship Development Programme sponsored by DST, GOI.

ADVANCED JEWELLERY DESIGN TECHNOLOGY CENTRE

(Sponsored by Government of Karnataka)(Funded under ASIDE Scheme, Govt of India)

The "Advanced Jewellery Design Technology Centre" at JSSATE, Bangalore Campus, is set by JSS Mahavidyapeetha in collaboration with M/s Dassault Systems (France) and the Government of Karnataka at an estimated project outlay of       Rs. 4 crores. The main objective of the Centre is to develop new designs, using CAD software, rapid prototype facility and other new techniques. The Centre would also provide consultancy and training to jewellery manufacturing units.

M/s Dassault Systems is providing software support, while the Government of Karnataka provides the overall support with finance. The Centre will have linkages with agencies like Jewellery Design Institute, Trade Centre, Jeweler’s Association and Jewellery Training Centre at JSS Polytechnic for Physically Handicapped, Mysore.

Projects Sanctioned.

DST, GOI has sanctioned a project entitled “Technology Demonstration for Manufacturing Non-Edible Oil used as Biofuel in D.G.Set” at a total cost of Rs.23 lakhs.

Workshops held:

JSSATE-STEP had organized National Level Group Monitoring Meeting of State Councils on Science & Technology related projects on 18th and 19th of June 2003 at Hotel Capital, Bangalore at the request of Department of Science & Technology, Government of India.

JSSATE-STEP had organized a National level consultative workshop on Scientific Strategies for Production of Non-edible Oil for use as biofuels along with SuTRA (Sustainable Transformation of Rural Areas , Indian Institure of Science, Bangalore) in cooperation with Samagra Vikas Trust on 6th and 7th September 2003. Some of the consultancy services executed by the STEP are: JSSATE-STEP is providing necessary help and guidance to M/s. Bhaskar Industries and M/s OPAL Engineering & Technologies to develop the process and tooling to manufacture the turned components with close tolerance using CNC Lathe.
